Brief Biography of Abraham
Abram was a tenth generation descendent of Noah (of the ark). Not much is known about is childhood. As an adult, Abram lived in Haran with his brothers Nahor and Haran. He married a woman named Sarah. Abram received a message from God that he was to leave his home and travel to Canaan (now Israel) in order to create a covenant with God and become the father of the land. His wife, Sarah, was unable to produce children for Abram, and so she offered her husband her handmaiden, Hagar. Abram impregnated Hagar, and bore his first son, Ishmael. God promised Abraham that his wife would conceive a second son, Isaac. Upon Isaac’s birth, Abraham became known as Abram, and Sarah as Sarai. Isaac was born, and while he was still in his youth, God told Abram that he must sacrifice his youngest son in Moriah. The two traveled three days to reach the mountain that God specified. Isaac was notably confused about the absence of any sacrificial animal on their journey. Just before Abram sacrificed his son, an angel came down from the heavens and stopped him, providing him with a sacrificial ram. God rewarded Abram’s willingness to kill his own son with another promise of descendents and prosperity. Sarai died at the age of 127 and was buried in the Cave of the Patriarchs. Abram remarried and his new wife, Keturah, bore six more sons, Zimran, Josghan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah. Abram died when he was 175 years old and was buried by his sons Isaac and Ishmael next to Sarai in the Cave of Patriarchs.

I am indeed free from your ascribing partners to God. For me, I have set my face towards Him who created the heavens and the earth, as a man of pure faith and one by nature upright, and I am not among those who associate partners with God.”
