Where did New York Giants get their name and why are they called it?
The giants received their name when the owner at the time, Tim Mara used the same name as the city’s baseball team for the new football team. This was fairly common during the early days of football. Eventually, the New York Baseball teams became the Yankees and Mets, and the NFL Giants kept their name.

5. Frank Gifford – Halfback, Wide Reveiver
Frank Gifford is a Hall of fame Halfback and Wide Receiver who spent all of his 12 professional season with the New York GIants. He was an eight-time Pro Bowler and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1877. His number, 16, was retired by the Giants team.

3. Phil Simms – Quarterback
Phil Simms started his career as a New York Giant in the 1979 NFL draft. During his career with the Giants, he set many team records, which at the time included most attempts, completions, touchdowns, yards and games started. He was a fairly mediocre player during the first five seasons. It was not until 1984 that he was put back in as a starting Quarterback. It was an excellent season for Simms. In 1986, he led the team to a Super Bowl Victory. His time with the New York Giants ended in 1990 when he injured his foot.

2. Harry Carson – Linebacker
Harry Carson was a career-long New York Giant. He was first drafted in 1976 and remained with the team until 1988. He was the team captain for ten years, and led the team in tackles during half of those seasons. He was a nine-time Pro Bowler and a teammate in Super Bowl XXI.

1. Lawrence Taylor – Linebacker
Lawrence Taylor was drafted by the New York Giants during the 1981 NFL draft. He remained with the team for his entire professional career from 1981 until 1993. In 1986 he was named defensive player of the year, with 20.5 sacks on the season. He was also named NFL MVP. In 1986 and 1990 he helped the team to secure Super Bowl championships. He was a ten-time Pro Bowler and eight-time First-Team All-Pro member.

Tailgating Rules
- Parking lot guidelines have been established in order to create a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests. All vehicles and bags that enter the Meadowlands Sports Complex property and the New Meadowlands Stadium may be subject to a visual search.
- 1 VEHICLE = 1 SPACE: All tailgating items must be set up in front of or behind one vehicle. Roadways and additional spaces are to remain clear for fellow guests and emergency vehicles.
- ALCOHOL GUIDELINES: All New Jersey alcohol consumption and distribution laws will be strictly enforced by New Jersey State Police and New Meadowlands Stadium Staff.
- CHARTER BUSES: Charter bus parking is located in Lot L.
- COOKING / USE OF GRILLS: We ask that all guests safely set-up, operate and extinguish all cooking and grilling materials. Please extinguish and dispose of all cooking and grilling materials. Hot coals are to be disposed of in hot coal containers which are located at the perimeter of parking lots. The use of grills is NOT PERMITED on any level of the IZOD Center parking deck.
- RV’s / LARGE VEHICLES: Will not be permitted to park in the IZOD Center parking decks.
- TICKET RESALE: Ticket reselling is not authorized on Meadowlands Sports Complex property. Be aware that tickets purchased from sources other than New Meadowlands Stadium, Giants, Jets or an authorized ticket outlet may be counterfeit and may not be accepted. This includes the reselling of parking permits on the roadways leading into the Meadowlands Sports Complex.
- VENDING / SOLICITATION: Unauthorized soliciting or the collection of contributions, vending, distribution of flyers, or other materials is not permitted.
- WASTE: Please dispose of all waste materials in the proper trash, recycling, and hot coal containers.
