List of Elements in the Non-Metals Group
What are Non-Metals
Nonmetal, or non-metal, is a term used in chemistry when classifying the chemical elements. The nonmetals are located on the upper right side of the periodic table.Non-metals are the elements in groups 14-16 of the periodic table. Non-metals are not able to conduct electricity or heat very well. As opposed to metals, non-metallic elements are very brittle. The non-metals exist in two of the three states of matter at room temperature: gases and solids. The non-metals have properties such as: no metallic luster, do not reflect light, High ionization energies, high electronegativities, poor thermal conductors, poor electrical conductors. They have oxidation numbers of ±4, -3, and -2.
