Presentation: I will start class off by asking the students to brainstorm their favorite restaurant to go out to eat at. Then, I will ask them to think of their favorite dish to order there. Then, I will randomly choose students to tell the class what is their favorite restaurant and dish there. This should elicit the students interest in the ordering food lesson. (5 min. S>T interaction) Then, I will hand out a copy of a restaurant menu for each student located here. I will read through it aloud while the class follows along and go over key vocabulary and pronunciation by saying words and having the class repeat them back to me. I will then see if any students can pretend to order something from me in English, and go over several examples of “Can I have the…, “I’d like the….” i.e. the function of how to order in a restaurant, utilizing the items on the menu. (10 min. S>T interaction)

Practice: The class will listen to the following audio clip two or three times. Audio clip located here. Then, the students will break up into pairs for the following role play activity here. Production: Students will get into pairs for the following activity to find the differences in the menus (menus located here). Students will work together by asking each other questions to figure out what the differences in the menu are. (10 min. They will be instructed to come up with at least 2 items for the following categories: Appetizers, Main Courses, Desserts and Drinks. (10 min. S>S interaction)

Extra time activity: Students will role play (in the same groups as the previous activity) by pretending to order from the menu they have created. They will be instructed to all order at least one item while someone plays the waiter. Teacher will prompt if necessary. (10 min. S>S interaction)
