History of the Colorado Rockies
The Colorado Rockies became one of Major League Baseball’s newest teams when it was selected in 1981 as one of two cities to receive new baseball teams in the National League expansion agreement. In their short history, the team has won three wild card playoff spots, one of which led to the National League Championship Series title. The Rockies played the Red Sox in the 2007 World Series, but fell short of a championship, as the Red Sox won four games to none.

Andres Galarraga played for the Colorado Rockies from 1993 until 1997. As the team’s first baseman in their first years as a franchise, Andres as a key offensive player, batting almost a .400 in his first season for the team. His .370 was high enough to lead the National League in batting averages in 1993. He was a career five-time All-Star player, and two-time Award winner of the Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards.
