History of the Chicago Bears

Where did Chicago Bears get their name?
The Chicago Bears were originally called the Decatur Staleys. In 1921, the team moved to Chicago, Illinois. One year later, George Halas (a player, coach and owner of the team) renamed the Staleys the Chicago Bears. He chose the name because of the already-existing Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball team. At that time, the Bears played at Wrigley Field and wanted to be named in accordance with the other Chicago team.
